Jardin de Luxembourg

Before I start posting photos from our recent trip to Rome, I would like to finish a series of posts about our voyage à Paris back in August. I sincerely hope these photos will help to brighten up your mood if you're feeling down because of the weather which is still quite wintry in some parts of the world. Now let me take you for a walk in Jardin de Luxembourg!

Jardin de Luxembourg is quite a huge park that surrounds the palace which was built in the XVIIth century for Marie de' Medici, the second wife of King Henry IV of France. The garden is incredibly picturesque: there are shady alleys and open spaces with lots of flowers, fountains and wonderful sculptures. I particularly loved the statues of French queens.

It's wonderful to stroll around the Jardin de Luxembourg on a sunny day. This place is perfect for observing Parisians - those sitting in the shade of trees with a book, those playing tennis on one of the courts, the little ones running the boats on the pond. When you get a little tired, order some ice cream in one of the open cafes or write a few postcards to your loved ones while sitting on a chair near the pond.
